Honda Will Offer Three New Hybrid Systems

In terms of hybrid, the Japanese automaker has lagged behind its main competitors in the field, Toyota and Ford. Honda even for a few years, ceased production of hybrid Accord that has just reintroduced into the market. However, the price of fuel being what it is and the tendency of consumers to hybrid on the rise, we propose three new Honda Honda Sport Hybrid systems that will replace the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA): Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive , Intelligent Multi Mode Drive, Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.

Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive in Honda

This new hybrid system using a single engine automatic transmission 7-speed dual-clutch like Acura uses on some of its vehicles. However, the objective here is not one of performance but rather fuel economy. This can be combined with a small 4-cylinder engine 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle and a lithium-ion battery. This tandem will save about 30% on fuel and provide more than adequate performance for vehicles that will be equipped. One might expect to see this type of engine on the Honda Fit, CR-Z, Insight and Civic, for example.

Intelligent Multi Drive Mode

In the case of the hybrid system Intelligent Multi Drive mode, it uses a new engine designed for hybrid vehicles and a gearbox (CVT) coupled to two electric motors and a lockup clutch and battery powered Lithium-ion battery. Motor vehicles and benefit from three driving modes: EV for pure electric driving, Engine Drive for driving at medium and high speeds, and Hybrid Drive for city driving. This system will also be offered and will likely plug configuration proposed in the North American version of the Accord in 2014 which will be marketed starting in January 2013 and intermediate in the other models of the brand.

Super Handling – All Wheel Drive

If one twin Intelligent Multi Drive mode the transmission integral, we obtain the system Super Handling – All Wheel Drive. In this case, it combines the power of a V6 3.5-liter direct fuel injection installed on the front wheels to a gearbox 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with integrated electric motor, which allows performance worthy a V8 and fuel consumption which is the 4-cylinder engine. This new system uses two motors installed in the rear to control the power sent to the rear wheels and will be available in full-size vehicles. The first vehicle to use this system will RLX Acura.
